UND Memorial Union

Currently under construction, UND’s 156,000 SF Memorial Union project is being built on a tight site on an active campus. The Memorial Union is the “living room” of the college campus and includes a student lounge area, dining amenities including a Starbucks, Chik-Fil-A and Panda Express, meeting space, offices for Student Government, Student Services, an art gallery and other amenities. Landscaping work is also underway on this project that is due for completion in August of 2021.

Duffey Lofts

Navigating within historic preservation requirements, Superior prepped and painted exposed trusses, completed exterior painting, and refreshed the existing historical sign and canopy. Wall cover was also added to the walls and ceiling at various locations in addition to miscellaneous work on the Rooftop Club Room.

Kurita

The new precast facility building’s Japanese influence can be seen in its clean simplicity. Beautiful epoxy sealed floors and fresh paint throughout continue throughout the labs, offices, and warehouse of this 156,000 square foot project.

Thrivent Financial Headquarters

An eight -story above ground mixed use office tower (264,000 sf) and two levels of underground parking (105,000 sf) built for Thrivent Financial Corporation’s new headquarters. Finishes included applications of Aerolon Insulating Coatings, intumescent mastic fireproofing, high performance metallic coatings, painting and wall fabric.

Cool Offices: Thrivent’s $125M headquarters faces the company’s future

Terex Facility

New construction of a 446,547 SF facility approximately two miles from Terex’s existing operation. This facility will co-locate all manufacturing and corporate operations with the exception of steel fabrication. General make-up of the facility is strip footings, steel structure, exterior precast/metal panel/storefront glass. A heavy MEP focus on utilities is required for the equipment and manufacturing operations. Also include in the project is a large asphalt and concrete pavement areas for parking and trucking haul roads.

Grinnell College-Humanities & Social Studies Complex

A project that spanned over two years for expansion/renovation of the Humanities & Social Studies Complex for Grinnell College in Iowa. Intumescent mastic fireproofing, painting, wall covering and tac wall surfaces were the scopes involved for the large three-story facility. The task was lead by paint foreman Dewey Hadley to expedite the completion.

RBC Gateway Tenant Improvement

RBC Gateway is a 37-story tower redevelopment in downtown Minneapolis. When completed in 2022, RBC Gateway will be one of the ten tallest buildings in downtown Minneapolis. The building will be more than 1.2 million SF. Square footages on each level vary from 70,000 SF in each parking level to 50,000 SF on each of the podium floors to 30,000 SF for each of the office levels before finalizing at 18,000 SF for the floors that will accommodate the hotel and condo residences.

U of M Bell Museum

Built on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota, the James Ford Bell Museum of Natural History features 2 floors of world-renowned Minnesota wildlife dioramas and the 120 seat Whitney and Elizabeth MacMillan Planetarium Theater. The project included painting of exposed ceilings of both exhibit-filled floors, as well as 230 gallons of Intumescent Coating at exposed structural steel trusses. In total, just over 1,800 gallons of paint were used.

Carleton College Music & Performance Commons

Carleton College Music & Performance Commons

The Superior Team is proud to be a part of the construction for Carleton College. The building is a new music and performance commons addition to the Weitz Center for Creativity. Working under the direction of McGough Construction and HGA Architects, all painters of the Superior Painting & Decorating crew worked diligently to apply High-Performance coatings and Intumescent Fire-proofing for the project. The large Performance Hall was completed in stages using scaffold and lifts to achieve a black box area.

Baker Center Renovation

Working under the direction of Gardner Builders through partnership with JE Dunn, Superior Painting & Decorating, Inc. is proud to be involved in the major renovation of the historic Baker Center. Located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis at the corner of Marquette and Eighth Street, the historical features of the Art Deco style combined with the modern updates are all coming together with application of finishes applied by Superior Painting & Decorating as selected by RSP Architects.

Finishes applied include Scuffmaster coatings, custom digital wallcovering, and numerous paint finishes throughout. High-Performance coatings were applied at the new Rooftop Terrace. Also on the 13th floor was the construction of new Fitness Facilities including locker rooms, Conference and Meeting Rooms.

Preserving old while incorporating new involved new paint finishes to the historic barrel vault ceiling at the 1st level Corridor Remodel.

Skyway level and Elevator Lobbies and Entrances were addressed with removal of existing wallcovering and installation of new wallcovering finishes along with ceiling and various wall painting.

Shakopee Ice Arena & Community Center

This multiple-phase project was completed under the direction of General Contractor, RJM Construction and Architectural firm, 292 Design Group. Renovation included two NHL-sized rinks, a new 24,000 square foot aquatic center in the existing ice arena shell, and remodeling of the Community Center including expanded fitness, senior lounge, indoor playground, and child care.

Superior Painting & Decorating applied over 2,000 gallons of paint on this project including the application of intumescent fire-proofing of various areas.

Syngenta’s North America Seedcare Institute

Syngenta’s North America Seedcare Institute Expansion

Fall of 2016 brings to completion a $20 million dollar expansion for Syngenta Seedcare Institute. Located on a 412 acre campus 10 miles east of Northfield, this 38,000 s.f. expansion project encompasses the high-tech laboratories for research and development and various kinds of testing, plus a state-of-the-art training facility.

Superior Painting & Decorating under direction of Knutson Construction, applied the coatings and wall finishes to this premier seed-treatment research facility. In addition to the application of structural steel coatings, a number of beautiful custom digital murals highlighting scenic views of farmland crops and seed development were professionally installed by the Superior team.

 

Renewal by Anderson

Renewal by Andersen Headquarters Facility Expansion

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony held June 30, 2016 celebrated the Grand Opening and completion of this 113,000 sf expansion of the Renewal by Andersen Headquarters located in Cottage Grove, MN.

Superior Painting & Decorating, Inc was pleased to be a part of this major renovation; the first expansion project for Renewal by Andersen since moving to this location in 1999. Working under the direction of McGough Construction and RSP Architects, finishes utilized on this project included:

Manufacturing Area (185,000 sf)
Painting of steel truss/bar joist and deck ceiling using a spray application of 3000 gal of Dry-Fall, concrete ceiling and pre-cast walls using aerial lift equipment at 27’ height.
Industrial enamels applied to Manufacturing steel stairs, bollards, and columns throughout.

Office space (33,000 sf)
Interior paint finishes included a mix of Accent Colors along with Epoxy paint finishes applied at Locker Room Area.

Renville County Hospital

Renville County Hospital Expansion

Final finishes were applied by Superior Painting & Decorating to complete the construction of the new Renville County Hospital and Clinics facility in time for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house tour on September 21, 2015.The 65,000 sq. ft. hospital includes 18 exam rooms, a procedure room in the ambulatory clinic, 16 inpatient suites, lab, radiology, therapy, outpatient and specialty clinics, two operating rooms, education center, hearth room, gardens, walking path, and new technology such as MRI, helipad, and tele-medicine capabilities.

Working under the direction of McGough Construction and Pope Architects, Superior Painting & Decorating applied high-performance coatings and a number of specialized wall finishes through-out including painting of the barrel-vault ceiling in the Reception/Lobby Area. There were nine (9) different wall coverings installed. Highlight finishes included application of a custom-stained oiled teak wood wall covering at the Reception area. Challenges for installation posed by the curved areas at reception soffit were successfully overcome with a beautiful end result.

Ordway Center for the Performing Arts

Named “Best New Art Space” in the 2015 Best of Minnesota, this 2-phase $42 million renovation spanning over 2 ½ years was recently completed by Superior Painting & Decorating, Inc. through the direction of McGough Construction. The first phase consisted of a 16,800 sf addition to the back of the existing theatre stage-house for the new Production Wing. Phase 2 involved a complete demolition of the existing McKnight Theatre to allow for construction of the new 39,000 sf state of the art Concert hall designed specifically for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and is directly connected to the existing Ordway Music Theater.

TPT Media Commons

Twin Cities Public Television – Media Commons

The ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 29, 2015 marks the completion of major renovations to TPT now known as Twin Cities PBS. Superior Painting & Decorating, Inc was proud to be a part of this unique and exciting project. From the application of the new TPT logo to the building exterior to installation of custom digital graphic murals on interior walls, Superior Painting & Decorating worked throughout the project to provide wall finishes that brought TPT studios to life. Superior Painting installed the life-like Sesame Street graphic and farm scene graphics, stencil “ghost-graphics”, along with interior and exterior paint finishes selected by the Cuningham Group under the direction of McGough Construction.

PGA-MSP Airport

Superior Painting & Decorating has applied finishes at a number of projects updating the MSP Airport – Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Painting of exposed ceilings, installation of new wallcoverings and application of paint finishes marked the completion of the PGA –MSP Airport which opened in March 2015. This inter-active golf facility features industry leading golf simulators, a putting green, a virtual driving range, a lounge, and Pro Shop.

Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority – RAMP

Superior Painting & Decorating is pleased to have a share in the construction of the Minnesota Sports Facilities (MSFA)-Ramp Minneapolis. Part of a $400 million dollar development in conjunction with the new Viking Stadium, Superior is working hand-in-hand with General Contractor Ryan Companies on this project. This 1,328 stall parking ramp will be used by the Corporate Tenant during the day and for Viking games and other events on weekends and evenings.

A unique aspect of the Ryan Companies proposal is the connection of the new Stadium with the City’s skyway system which will greatly benefit stadium event attendees.

Superior Painting & Decorating is applying all paint finishes including painting of stairwells, elevator lobbies, striping/markings, elevator shaft – Black, and stencil work.

Ridgedale Mall Renovation

Ridgedale Center Expansion and Renovation

Completed in the Fall of 2015 is a $50 million expansion and renovation at one of the Twin Cities major shopping malls, Ridgedale Center.  Superior Painting & Decorating is working with General Contractor VCC, LLC and Architect DLR Group to provide spectacular finishes to this project.  Superior Painting’s use of an 85’ telescopic boom lift allows access to areas within the Center Court for application of metallic specialty finishes to newly remodeled columns with safety as priority. Superior Painting’s finishes can also be seen at all of the Mall Entrances, the entire Commons Area, as well as ceilings throughout the mall.
